WELLNESS EXAM
A wellness examination is a routine medical examination of a dog or cat who appears healthy, as opposed to an examination of a dog or cat who is ill. A wellness examination may also be called a ‘check-up’ or a ‘physical examination’.
When your pet comes in for a wellness exam, we will start with a weight check, a temperature check and even a respiration check. The exam will include a close examination of their eyes, teeth, ears, skin, and coat. During this exam we will also listen to their lungs and their heart and perform a palpation of their abdomen. If you have a kitten or a puppy they will receive the standard exam plus we will recommend additional services and additional products that will help with their overall care and well-being. During a puppy or kitten wellness exam, we will also discuss upcoming vaccines, heartworm/ flea/tick prevention, and even spaying and neutering. We will let you know up front the cost for each of the “bundle vaccine packages” so that you know what to expect each time you bring them in. Visits are set 3 weeks apart. Follow-up appointments are able to be set before you ever leave the office.
If you are bringing in a senior animal they also will receive the standard comprehensive exam and then we will also discuss recommended “Senior Bloodwork” to check on the different organs and their functions as well as supplements that could help in the over all care and healthiness of your pet.
