SURGERIES
Veterinary surgery is surgery performed on animals by veterinarians, whereby the procedures fall into three broad categories: orthopedics (bones, joints, muscles), soft tissue surgery (skin, body cavities, cardiovascular system, GI/urogenital/respiratory tracts), and neurosurgery.
Here at Homestead Veterinary Medical Center we are equipped to perform spay/neuter, bladder stone removals, exploratory surgeries, and growth removals. There are many more as well that we perform here in house. We are fully equipped for dental surgeries that include cleaning, polishing, and even extractions if needed. We are able to perform a variety of different orthopedic surgeries as well. If at any time there is a situation that we encounter where we are unable to perform surgery we will refer you to a specialized clinic for a consultation. Before surgery your animal may need additional tests or bloodwork to ensure that they are healthy enough to undergo the needed procedure. We have a monitoring system for the surgery room to keep them comfortable during anesthesia and to monitor their well being during the entire procedure. After surgery your animal will be monitored and will receive post-operative care in our Intensive Care Area. When they are awake and ready to be taken home, we will give you all the instructions needed for at home care. You will also be given any instructions for post follow up appointments. We want you to feel comfortable from start to finish and have no unanswered questions regarding their treatment or care.
